Is anyone else having issue with blogger? It seems this new "interface" (is that what you call it?) is making it glitchy and it stops loading at some points. Also when I use the photo uploader, it keeps changing the sizes from X-Large to Medium! Aggravating!!!! Anyway, I hope this gets fixed!
So London Fashion Week ended days ago and Milan has started already. I've failed at narrowing down my LFW favorites, which I have to say, were so much better than New York, because I just loved so many of them! My biggest gripe has to be that a lot of the labels I usually am excited for did not really reach my expectations, but there were more unexpected shiners this season.
Roksanda Ilincic showed great pieces this season, but nothing really floored me.
Mary Katrantzou always gives amazing shows and this was really no exception. The dresses were amazing and so were the floral suits. I am loving the gift ribbon detail on the rightmost dress, although I could do without the train. I really wish I'd see more people (as in celebrities or fashion people) wear more Katrantzou, because I think this season's pieces are easier translated to real life than the past ones.
Antonio Berardi didn't get such great reviews for his SS12 line, but I, personally, loved it. The light flowy fabrics coupled with the amazing silver detailing is nothing short of beautiful. Every piece is so, well, PRETTY! I really do not understand how this collection could get anything but raves.
Matthew Williamson's pieces were very Matthew Williamson. So there was nothing amazing, but it was still a pretty great collection, in my opinion. The green paisley printed pieces are my favorite. Also, that metallic vest needs to get on my body at this moment.
Christopher Kane's collection was such a huge let down. I adored his collection 2 seasons ago, but last season's jello in plastic was really jank. I figured he could redeem himself this season, but I was wrong. In all honesty, the clothes are nice. Some pieces are kind of growing on me, like those white jeweled dresses. It's just that I expected to be blown away.
Now, Erdem, on the other hand, is consistently beautiful. Of course, Erdem's florals are top notch and their lace is as wonderful as ever. Two things they do best; if it ain't broke, why fix it? I really do not have anything else to say, because Erdem is just one of those labels that you know will put out great collections always.
I surprisingly really liked Richard Nicoll's collection. I am semi- in love with those clear booties. Just check out those wired sheer pieces. They look great, but probably are a bitch to sit on. Well, who cares? The whole collection is great to look at and that's what matters.
I liked Mulberry more than I usually do. Yes, I despise the hair, but I do like everything else. I liked that there was a little sportswear infused. I like the drawstring details. One thing is that I've started to dislike bags and the trend of "it" bags. I can't explain it, because saying they're frivolous would be ridiculous since we're talking about fashion.
How great is Julien MacDonald? Not THAT great, because he took from Givenchy (I mean just look that that sheer dress), but he's a little great! I really like his designs as they have a darkness to them that I am always drawn to. This collection was a little confusing, but I loved the pieces and I'm not one to care for 'cohesion' anyway.
Sass and Bide continues to be fearless in their color choices. The neon jewelry trend is really great, I think, and I think it was great for them to include it in the collection as it really help some pieces stand out. I think it's mostly the colors that drew me into the collection. The clothes, when taking a closer look at them, seem alright, I guess.
All in all, London has showed some pretty great collections. I am so thrilled for more of Milan as the collections I have seen from there have been amazing so far! Til then! xx
