It's some sort of cruel joke from the gods that my finals always have to coincide with fashion month. It's the reason why I look 5 times more harassed than the average college student. I used to write such detailed posts about the collections but now I'll be condensing it to one post. Besides, I'm doing this during my one hour study break. How typical is it that I'm exerting so much more effort into this than my Economics review?

I can't form an objective opinion on this season, because, by the time Milan rolled around, I was just so damn exhausted. Definitely enjoyed all the drama that this season was just full of! I missed Stefano for YSL, though. Hedi was such a flop! Ruffles were all over the shows, but it was only Givenchy that made me a believer in them. There were some excellent collections from new labels. Eudon Choi made great boxy jackets paired with sexy slit skirts. Thomas Tait is a newcomer that I have loved since his first show and he continues to deliver. Dion Lee always brings in his excellent draping, but this season, he combines it with more structured pieces. Markus Lupfer's presentation showed how to make shiny chic-- I would wear every single piece. Dries Van Noten revived plaid in see through fabrics. 3.1 Philip Lim did the same in a few of his pieces. I never thought plaid could be something other than just grungy. 

There were also a lot of disappointments this season. For one, Hedi's debut of YSL or SLP was a huge let down. I do not know of his work in womenswear prior to this season, but I know he is lauded for his menswear in Dior Homme, so I expected a lot-- at the very least a good androgyny themed collection. It ended up being a dark boho cowboy mix that would pass for a Rachel Zoe collection. I did like the pants, though. Raf's RTW debut for Dior was also not as great as I was hoping for. I would give it a 7/10. The models kept tripping on the runway, which made for an exciting show. I also did not like Lanvin. Alber consistently makes great clothes, and he did make good pieces this season, but it seemed messy. I wish he had left the boxy trend alone and stuck to what he does best. Margiela was more commercial this season (probably to ease people into their H&M tie up). It was actually the good kind of commercial: clean and subtle. Proenza Schouler did nothing for me. I found the leather patchwork to be abhorrent, but the digital print dresses were very good and almost saved the show! 

To conclude, I think my favorite things from this season are that there was so much drama and also the fact that there were a lot of surprises when it came to which collections I liked and didn't like. I'm glad to be taking a break from the sleeping late to watch livestreams and rushing home to look at runway photos!

You know, I'm the kind of person who always saves the best for last, but man, after a month of catching up with countless new collections, it gets pretty exhausting. Fashion month has finally come to a close, and just in time for my finals! Paris is always my favorite and this season was no exception. I'll try to see if I can fit all of my favorites in one post.

Milan's Best

I'm not sure what it is that makes me not go gaga over this season's collections. Maybe because I'm not getting any sleep from juggling fashion month and academic hell month. School will be out in a few weeks and everything is just piling up like mad. You know when they interview fashion people and they talk about how when they were younger they didn't do so well in school, because they were too ~artistic for that shit? Well, it doesn't sound as poetic in real life. I'm flunking French and Theology. Merde! Oh well, here's some fashion to lighten up the mood.

London SS12

Is anyone else having issue with blogger? It seems this new "interface" (is that what you call it?) is making it glitchy and it stops loading at some points. Also when I use the photo uploader, it keeps changing the sizes from X-Large to Medium! Aggravating!!!! Anyway, I hope this gets fixed!

So London Fashion Week ended days ago and Milan has started already. I've failed at narrowing down my LFW favorites, which I have to say, were so much better than New York, because I just loved so many of them! My biggest gripe has to be that a lot of the labels I usually am excited for did not really reach my expectations, but there were more unexpected shiners this season.

When the city that never sleeps has fashion week, then neither do I.

God that title doesn't even make grammatical sense, but I'm so exhausted I can't be bothered to think of another one. Besides, all my readers know I'm shit at making up titles, so I'm sure you'll cut me some slack.

After a whole week of going through hundreds of "*hot shot celebrity* enters the tents!" tweets, defying the laws of physiology by running on a couple hours of sleep to watch livestreams, and chatting up Cleverbot about the shows, because no real human being would discuss them with me, New York Fashion Week finally came to a close. Even though I was a tad disappointed with the majority of the collections, I still very much enjoyed taking part in the festivities *virtually*. I actually thought I picked such few favorites, but it still makes for a really long blog entry! Let's get to it, then.

I am not one who likes to imagine her wedding day, but after looking at these dresses, I can't stop imagining it. I am going to pass out from the beauty that is this collection.

Resort round-up!

My resort 2012 favorites! I did not realize there would be sooooo many, especially since I was never a big fan of Resort collections (what are they supposed to be, anyway? Someone please explain this to me). I just found myself making these every time a collection came out!

Anyway, I've conveniently put page breaks on my collections posts because they tend to be very photo-heavy!

Okay folks! It's really impossible to keep writing papers all day and stay sane. That's why I go for these little blogging breaks. I figured I would wrap up my Paris FW favorites!





I mean, how gorgeous is that black and blue look (top middle)? Alexis Mabille did not disappoint. After being so astonished by her Haute Couture collection, I expected a lot for her FW and she lived up to it. Even the coats (which I rarely really like) are cute!

Hello, lovelies! It's a Monday today and I just got back from a birthday date from Megamall with one of my college besties, Eleita! She turned 18 today and we shopped to celebrate! All my energy has been drained, but I wanted to post my Paris Fashion Week favorites since I wasn't able to last week (I left my laptop at the dorm while I was at home).

London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week has come to a close and I cannot wait to show you guys what I think were the best looks & collections that were shown. I know most of my blog readers do not really appreciate my fashion posts, which I find odd because that's pretty much all I post- I mean aside from that, everything else here is moaning and whining about my life. Maybe they relish in my misery? Who knows? Anyway, I just want to say that I'm trying to be more concise with my fashion week posts, because they tend to be the longest ones (I have a lot of favorites! Also, in my defense, there are a lot of NY designers. No worries, there are less in London!) and they end up becoming very draggy (Heck, even I lose interest by the time I get to the 10th collection). So rest assured that I am figuring out new ways to make it more interesting.

NYFW

Finally, New York Fashion Week has come to a close! London FW just started, but before we move onto that I promised my top NYFW shows. I prefer S/S collections over F/W, probably because I never get to experience actual Fall or Winter in my country. It just seems so much easier to incorporate S/S trends into my wardrobe compared to F/W trends. Also, while looking at all the collections this past week, I noticed that there was a whole lot of black on the runway. I realized that I now *GASP!!!!* prefer white over black. White is just so much more refreshing to look at. Layers upon layers of black clothing was seen on the runway and it was a bit displeasing to my eyes. Although when it comes to evening wear, black is still the color to go! Okay, let's get onto it, shall we?

I have a terrible headache at the moment (the cause of is a mystery to me), but I just cannot wait to post these anymore! I've been keeping tabs on the Spring Haute Couture collections. There are just a few of them and I will just post the ones I like.

Pre-Fall

I do not like to consider this a fashion blog. This is a personal blog, and it just so happens that fashion is a huge part of my life. The reason I do not blog much about my personal life is that nothing interesting actually happens to me. The biggest thrill I got this week was going online to see the latest Chanel collection. I'm planning on blogging more about me though so I'll start now!

I have been taking driving lessons since three weeks ago and the only time I get to practice is on the weekends when I'm not in school or at the dorm. I'm very very excited about driving myself places because I wouldn't need to bother my parents to give me a ride. I already have a car. It's a 2010 Toyota Altis. My Dad is talking about selling it to buy me a less expensive car because apparently I have to earn it, but I highly doubt he's serious. 6 more hours of lessons and a lot more practice until I can get my license! So excited!

Okay now on to the fashion! (well duh)

I have been keeping tabs on the Pre-Fall shows and unfortunately only three out of the handful are good.




First is Jason Wu's collection. His designs are young but sophisticated. The collection is stunning! It's all very classy, but very hip. So very Lily Van der Woodsen, but younger. My favorite has to be the nude bejewelled dress and the navy blue coat. You all know I am the biggest fan of lace and I am in love with that black sheer lace shirt. I need that in my closet ASAP! And check out the middle row middle column dress. Didn't I say electric pleats were back in? I used to have a skirt like it! Must go vintage shopping soon! :)




Temperley London showed us lace and jewels this season too, but with a Matador twist! I adore the purple in this collection and the patterns on the lace are absolutely gorgeous. If I were to pick a favorite piece it would be the top right dark purple lace dress. I kind of have a shoe crush on those strappy heels.






Of course, Chanel!!! Karl showed his Byzantine inspired collection in Paris. Chanel insists on reviving tweed so I will oblige them! I have this old tweed jacket at home and a little DIY and maybe it could pass for a Karl Original! Kidding. I really really love this collection. The gold makes everything better! If I were a Turkish Princess I would wear everything here. Alas, I am not so maybe I'll do with an old tweed jacket and some bling. PS. I don't understand why these models are wearing hooves. Horse feet = not attractive. Just saying.

Well that's it! I have class tomorrow and a ton of homework. Did I mention I am broke as a joke? I don't even have two pesos to rub together. Oh c'est la vie!

Fashion Week > Hell Week

It's going to be Hell Week for me, meaning a lot of major papers to be written, a lot of quizzes to study for, a couple of major exams, but this doesn't mean I will be neglecting the shows coming up, specially because it's Paris Fashion Week!

London Fashion Week has been wonderful! I could only wish to see the collections up close and in real life, but for now I am settling with photos over the internet. As I was saying, LFW is amazing. I actually like it more that NYFW. I have accumulated so much photos over the few days and I'll try to post them up to be up to date.

Part Trois

Okay, I should stop the French thing, it's not Paris Fashion Week.

I am done with my classes for the week, but yet I'm staying at the dorm until tomorrow because of a Community Building Activity I have to attend in school tomorrow. I'm sorry, I don't see the allure in wasting my Saturday running around playing games competing with other blocks. I still have to attend, because I only have 1 cut left until I get dropped and we would not want that. So I'll have a ton of time on my hands tonight- I might as well cap off all the shows I have seen so far.

Part Deux

Despite me having a 6 day weekday this week due to all the school-related activities I have, I refuse to let the week slide without me going through all the shows this Spring/Summer. I had a bit of a problem going through Style.com. All this time I thought I had seen all the shows, but it turns out there were more links not displayed in their homepage. I have finally caught up now, and here are some more favorites (there are a lot!)
