London Fashion Week has been wonderful! I could only wish to see the collections up close and in real life, but for now I am settling with photos over the internet. As I was saying, LFW is amazing. I actually like it more that NYFW. I have accumulated so much photos over the few days and I'll try to post them up to be up to date.
Let's start off with J. Mendel. The collection was absolutely fantastic. The red lips, bright orange shoes, straight loose hair. Everything is wearable, but not at all boring! The sheer + flowy fabrics make the pieces extra girly and whimsical. I am in love with the silver dress with the sleeves. I wonder if my dressmaker can copy that.
Today I was handed a Burberry advertisment and asked to write a paragraph about it by my English teacher. Upon remembering that I haven't seen the S/S 2011 show, I proceeded to daydreaming of the beauty that will be showcased. 20 minutes later my seatmate taps me with a pen causing me to realize I only have 5 minutes left to write. Fast forward to a few hours later when I was actually checking out the collection. I was in awe. The jackets are absolutely amazing! The silhouettes so very sexy. Everything was perfect! I even loved the set. I cannot, for the life of me, choose a favorite piece, but the studded jackets are definitely top 5. Burberry Prorsum shows are turning out to be my favorites!
Jeremy Scot's S/S 2011: Lady Gaga. The meat dress, the hair ala Telephone music video, and all that leather. We all know who Scott's inspiration was.
Antonio Berardi's last collection was amazing so I had high hopes for this season's. I am not disappointed, but I am not thrilled either. I think the designs are cute and definitely wearable, but not mindblowing. I still like everything though
Oh, Milly. These pieces are absolutely fantastic. As much as I hate pointed toe shoes, the clothes almost make them look good. I have tried looking for turbans, but they don't go well with my face shape. :( The orange-y red lips, I shall give a go!
Matthew Williamson. I absoluetly love this collection, which I find to be new since I would never wear anything in this color palette. It reminds me of poop and old rocks. Williamson has definitely made it fabulous though. Somehow knit isn't just used on sweaters your grandmom made for you. I love the upper middle dress and I just know I will be seeing it worn by a celebrity to a movie premier.
Get your freak on Giles Deacon. I had that on a shirt once, but I lost it. :( Now, how lovely is that eyeball and flower print? And that pink graphic sweater is just too cute. That pink fluff hat takes me back to my grade school days when we used to play kush ball. My favorite piece is definitely the bottom middle dress.
Marchesa. I can't even put it into words. It's girly, ethereal, gothic all at the same time! It's absolutely breath-taking. My favorites are the first row left, and bottom row right. Of course, you can never go wrong with Marchesa. I wonder who will wear these pieces on the red carpet. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of these.
Basso & Brooke was nothing we haven't seen before. I think I've seen this cut out dress in another print. The other pieces are fantastic, though. I really like the prints.
Mary Katrantzou. These designer names are getting harder and harder to spell, but after this collection, Mary Katrantzou is a name we surely won't forget. Putting the adorable factor aside, this collection is very smart! Who would have thought that furniture would look good on clothes? I am loving the chandelier necklaces and the lamp skirts. The award for cutest collection goes to Mary Katrantzou!
Here are some which I just like, but don't really have much to say about.
Richard Nicoll
Todd Lynn
Julien Macdonald
Acne
Jonathan Saunders
