Okay, I should stop the French thing, it's not Paris Fashion Week.
I am done with my classes for the week, but yet I'm staying at the dorm until tomorrow because of a Community Building Activity I have to attend in school tomorrow. I'm sorry, I don't see the allure in wasting my Saturday running around playing games competing with other blocks. I still have to attend, because I only have 1 cut left until I get dropped and we would not want that. So I'll have a ton of time on my hands tonight- I might as well cap off all the shows I have seen so far.
Marc Jacobs makes me feel better about my frizzy hair. Who would have known that tucked under a bucket hat (I knew it. It is a trend now!) it could look fabulous. Hair issues aside, this collection, it being Marc Jacobs and all, has really caught my attention. The red and navy blue look great together and give it a hint of a sailor look. I also love the satin shorts + sheer top combo. Definitely trying out some of the looks here.
Betsey Johnson, always the show stopper!I won't say I love or hate her looks, because I don't think I would wear most of her looks solely because I haven't got the balls to do so. I will say that they are very nice to look at! I think the RIDE ME necklaces are adorable and I would love to own one! My favorite is the blue two piece (upper middle). Too cute for words! I'll be sure to keep this collection in mind when throwing a themed party!
Everyone knows I have this thing for redheads. I have been dying to dye my hair the said color for years! So I was only more than excited to see a whole show modeled by redheads. I am not certain if ALL of them are real gingers, but who cares? The clothes were cute, the bags, of course, wonderful. I particularly like the peach (are those rosettes?) dress (upper right) and the rustic ensemble (upper left). I can already tell the shoes used will be a huge trend!
The show started with form fitting dresses- the signature Herve Leger, but I saw some ruffles here and puffs there. Not completely gone are the days of the bandage dress, but joining it are structured not-so-body-hugging pieces. I cannot pick a favorite for I think the 6 dresses are genius! Somehow the silver one (bottom left) makes me think of fish gills (in a good way).
Rebecca Taylor: everything was so adorable and perfect for my casual everydays in school. My favorite is the one on the left. The perfect satin top is something I have been on the look-out for for the longest time. paired with these adorable shorts, it's perfect! The lazy top bun completes the looks!
Proenza Schouler was, surprisingly, not one of my favorites. The collection is good, but not as good as their previous one. Although it did take me a while to fully appreciate the past collection. Maybe PS's S/S will grow on me. I think the textures on this are great and the colors too, but that's about it for me. Maybe when someone has a red carpet moment with the dresses, I'll start to love them.
Rodarte was a let down for me. I did not know what to expect, but I was surprised to see these coming from the sisters who made the wonderful past collections I loved and still love. No to the lipstick. No to the shoes. No to that unexplainable WHAT THE HELL IS THAT IN THE MIDDLE? I have managed to pick out the two pieces I liked- on the left and on the right. I hear the sisters decided to go on a different more commercial direction, but I suggest they go back to the old them.
Willow has just the right amount of edge to make a good collection. Somehow they managed to make the color yellow look tough. All four of these are my favorites and I could definitely see myself wearing them. I think if they carried these in stores at a more commercial price, it would sell like hotcakes.
Yigal Azrouel's collection had the same vibe of cool effortless chic that a lot of S/S collection had this year. The only issue I have are the sandals. For some reason, even if they aren't on my own feet, I still dislike T bar sandals. Other than those feet baring shoes, I love everything, specially the cool shades!
Bibhu Mohapatra. There. I actually spelled it right without having to copy paste. The name might be complicated, but the designs sure are not! Simple and elegant. I adore the transition of the last dress from light to dark blue. I want to see more of Bibhu's designs and I'm sure some will be hitting the red carpet!
Marchesa is one of the shows I always ALWAYS look forward to. This S/S is insane. I adore all the crazy jewelry, the jewels, the sheer, the odd structures. I get the feeling that Marchesa's collections always look a bit like their past ones, but I'm not complaining.
I don't think I really have that many things to say about Milly.I don't think anyone will disagree when I say great collection. The turban, the shades, the lip color all go together so well! I have been seeing pointed toe shoes all over and I must say I disapprove.
Jeremy Scott's S/S 2011 just screams Gaga! The hair that looks like Coke cans were just taken off of them, the meat dress, all that leather. We all know who Scott's inspiration was. The first two pieces (FUCK YOU shit and black dress) are the only ones I like. If you guys check out the collection, you'd be scared at the sight of the male models who look more like male killers. I'm just not liking it.
J. Mendel showed one of my favorite collections. The gray (upper middle) and white (far left bottom) are my favorites. I like how the bright orange ensemble doesn't look so over-the-top. Everything about this collection is a combination of cute and classy.
Last but definitely not the least, is one of my favorites, Temperley London! Every piece, specially the gown, looks very flattering. The upper middle dress(?) is very cool and reminds me of a knight. One thing I am sure everyone will be lusting over are those gorgeous shoes!
You all must be so sick of my fashion rants. Truth be told, when Fashion week rolls around, this is all that my life is. So please bear with me. London, here I come!
