London Fashion Week has come to a close and I cannot wait to show you guys what I think were the best looks & collections that were shown. I know most of my blog readers do not really appreciate my fashion posts, which I find odd because that's pretty much all I post- I mean aside from that, everything else here is moaning and whining about my life. Maybe they relish in my misery? Who knows? Anyway, I just want to say that I'm trying to be more concise with my fashion week posts, because they tend to be the longest ones (I have a lot of favorites! Also, in my defense, there are a lot of NY designers. No worries, there are less in London!) and they end up becoming very draggy (Heck, even I lose interest by the time I get to the 10th collection). So rest assured that I am figuring out new ways to make it more interesting.
Aquascutum showed a marvelous collection. This is the first of theirs that I have seen and I am quite impressed. Layers and layers of clean lines and gorgeous pieces made up the collection. The black look in the middle is my favorite! The black leather blazer (which I am surprised I have never seen before. I mean a leather blazer? It's genius!) with orange and beige piping is amazing. Also, that orange knit mutation of a cowl neck and a turtle neck is so hip (although I personally would never wear it for fear of shortening what is already a very short neck) and I can already see it on Olivia Palermo!
Marios Schwab had the best red pieces the whole week. Red leather? Amazing!
Personally, I think it is very hard to make an amazing minimalist collection. I believe is more more, so when a collection makes me fall in-love with simplicity and not extravagance, it must really be something! Thomas Tait was unfamiliar to me up until the moment I clicked on his name at Style.com, but he's definitely on my radar now. His collection's clean cuts and tuxedo collar bottoms did not fail to impress.
Erdem's S/S 2011 collection was one of my favorites and so I had high expectations for F/W. I was not disappointed, but not amazed either. I love the prints that somehow still remind me of florals, but for fall. The multi-colored gown is amazing (Is anyone else scared by the model who wear it? She does not look healthy!). Someone has to wear it to the red carpet (it may be a bit too casual for the Oscars though)
It is pretty apparent that I am a sucker for anything with gothic undertones. I don't think undertone is the word to use for Julien Macdonald's collection because the gothic inspiration is anything but subtle. The lace, the black, the leather, the intricate gold details- they all appeal to the little goth girl in me (In case you guys had no idea, this is a photo of me as a mall goth).
The Holly Fulton show was so lovely to watch. All the pieces were very cute and very wearable! I love the quirky graphic prints, specially the ones with skyscrapers. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I am lusting over the nude ribbon pumps. This is a collection everyone will like!
Mulberry's collection was full of great handbags (of course!) and fabulous coats. I really like the beige knee high socks (which I luckily own!) which will be a great motivation for me to get skinnier legs!
I don't think this Matthew Williamson collection even needs an explanation. Vibrant colors, cute prints and feathers make this a very interesting one. I love the coral colors (specially the pants) and the blue dress with white feathers. Another very lovely collection that everyone will appreciate!
Jonathan Saunders was one of my top five favorites in LFW. All the pieces were ba-na-nas! I am never getting over those prints. I also adore the colors used. Neon blue leaves? Yes! That look with the red color block skirt (upper middle) is probably my favorite next to the one in its right. I've been looking at celebrity photos lately, and I've noticed that they rarely do the dresses justice, so I am hoping that the black and red dress with the thigh slit is given justice when it is worn (which, come on, we all know it will be).
Obviously I love all these colors! Like I've said, I used to be an all-black kind of girl, but I'm slowly getting more and more experimental. Granted that my closet is still pretty monotone, I really enjoyed the accessories from this collection because those will probably be the first step into transitioning to a more colorful wardrobe. The looks on the top row have got to be my favorites. The scallop top is TDF! Is anyone else lusting over that orange lunch bag? So chic!
That's it for my LFW favorites! 10 wonderful spectacular collections! Now let's see what Milan has to offer! xx
